DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep Tissue Massage, is a deeper more intense massage. This technique uses slow, deep guided strokes and firm pressure designed to relieve chronic tension and reach below the superficial muscles. Deep Tissue Massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain and soreness in both large and small muscle groups.  The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a type of light massage that encourages the natural drainage of lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues and back toward the heart.  MLD uses a specific amount of pressure and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow and drain congested areas.  It can be effective for a variety of conditions: post-surgical edema, whiplash, lymphedema, pain disorders, headaches, oncology, autoimmune disorders and many others.

HOT STONE MASSAGE

Hot Stone massage incorporates elements of Swedish massage by using smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body.  The concept behind hot stone therapy is that the direct heat of the stones more quickly relaxes superficial muscles, allowing the therapist access to deeper muscle layers.  The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.

FOOT REFLEXOLOGY

Therapy that is performed by applying pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques.  The theory behind reflexology is that every area on the foot corresponds to organs and systems of the body.  Pressure applied to these areas affects the organs and can benefit a person’s health by encouraging homeostasis of the body systems.
